Our staff is comprised of Licensed Environmental Professionals. Enviro-Utilities, Inc. has conducted hundred’s of wetlands delineation throughout Virginia and North Carolina. EU has expertise in the evaluations of soils, hydrology, and vegetation for wetland delineations. Our evaluations are conducted in accordance with the Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) regulatory guidelines.
EU can document the location and extent of jurisdictional wetlands and/or Waters of the US and obtain regulatory approval. Recently the ACOE has adopted supplemental field indicators for hydric soils for the Coastal Plain and Piedmont physiographic regions. These indicators are now a key component for the determination and delineation of presence and extent of wetlands. The implementation of the hydric soil indicators has now made wetlands delineations primarily soils based. With delineations now being focused on soils, it is inherently important to have a vast knowledge and understanding of soils in order to accurately delineate the boundary of a wetland. EU has and continues to reach full approval from the ACOE for all Jurisdictional Determination (JD) requests made.
With wetlands delineation and permitting as one of our primary business services, EU has established solid working relationships with clients, counties and regulatory agencies to aid in expediting wetland delineation approvals and the subsequent permitting processes.
In addition to wetlands delineations, EU has extensive experience in the permitting processes required for proposed impacts to wetlands and Waters of the US in Virginia and North Carolina, as regulated by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the ACOE and the Marine Resources Commission (MRC). We can furnish a permit application for impacts such as road crossings, parking lots, industrial and commercial developments, large subdivisions, and other development activities. Our field experience, working relationships with the regulators and our knowledge of the various state and federal regulations aids us in facilitating and providing our clients with the most comprehensive permitting process. We have years of experience in simple permitting procedures and joint permit applications for projects such as a private driveway (i.e. Nationwide Permit) to extensive permitting for small and large subdivisions to large commercial and industrial developments and Individual Permits (i.e. industrial megasites and locality reservoirs).
To aid in the development of our wetlands projects and permitting packages, EU utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to interpret, integrate, store, edit, analyze and displays geographic information for informed decision making. Some examples of data that EU uses on a daily basis and retains data for most Counties in Central Virginia includes, but is not limited to, aerial photographs, County soil surveys, floodplain maps, topography, hydrography and the National Wetlands Inventory. In addition, EU has the capability of integrating GIS/AutoCAD, therefore making our data compatible with engineers, architects and surveyors which is integral to the design and permitting process. EU also offers the implementation of sub-meter Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to aid in project development (i.e. wetlands boundary flag locations), which can also be integrated with GIS and AutoCad and be utilized by engineers, architects and surveyors
