A RPA Determination (RPAD) is conducted in order to identify the designated area of protection by means of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act. This buffer area is 100' from a perennial water feature and serves to improve the water quality of of the Chesapeake Bay and the tributaries associated with it. Any projects that occur within a property where the RPA is present will require a determination.
The Enviro-Utilities team has extensive experience in the evaluation process for RPA features. Our team looks at wetlands and streams to determine if there is a connection or contiguous flow to a perennial feature. All streams are photographed and scored utilizing the North Carolina Stream Identification Method. The method evaluates 26 different attributes, producing a score which determines the perenniality of the stream. Once the data is collected, a map can be created and a report generated.
